It has been unrelentingly, brutally cold here lately. Single digit temperatures, wind chills down to or below zero, pathetic "highs" in the 20's. It's the kind of cold that seeps in to your bones and will not go away. Pretty much the only time I've felt warm for the last two weeks has been when I was in the shower or tucked into my bed with flannel sheets and two comforters. I don't know how you people who live in places like Minnesota and North Dakota do it. I don't even want to leave my house. Going anywhere or making extra stops once I am out is incredibly unappealing, because it is so damn cold.
Right now I'm sitting on my couch, under a blanket, wearing two pairs of socks and two shirts, and I'm still kind of cold. If it doesn't warm up soon, I may be forced to hole up in a cave somewhere to wait for the return of more reasonable temperatures.

This is why bears hibernate - you are right. Just for perspective...we may reach zero (F) today for a "high". Summer is beautiful, tho. :)
I'm lucky to have cats that will happily curl up under the blankets with me, so we can help keep each other warm. Also, electric blankets are the Best. Thing. Ever. I would have died weeks ago if it weren't for mine.
Yeah, it's been bitterly cold here and it's not something I love about living here, but when you are a life long midwesterner, it's something you learn to live with. I too have been perpetually cold. This morning I left my apartment and it was so cold my nose hurt.
I miss Maryland but I miss the weather most of all. I miss the giant snow storms that dump snow once every couple of years and only last for a week or so. I miss the early spring. I miss Cherry Blossoms in March. I miss it all.
I'm dealing with weather ranging from the 40's to the 60's and I'm complaining. Maybe that's because I'm just a wimp.
penguin! i went to ikea in woodbridge (and drove 4 and a half hours to do it) and got all this great stuff... but the point is, when we were loading it onto my SUV, I think it was like, -2384 wind chill. It was SO cold. My face has wind burn, now!
Brr!
You're right - it's been cold. I don't know how people in colder places handle it. I'd go nuts.
